Call for proposals: Critical questions in education symposium

Critical Questions in Education Symposium

The Academy for Educational Studies invites your participation in the 2022 Critical Questions in Education Symposium to be held in Denver, Colorado, October 24—26, 2022 at the Sonesta Denver Downtown Hotel. The final deadline for submitting proposals is July 25, 2022.

The conference will gather to explore how, and in what ways, “stories” about teaching and learning have often become disheartening in these challenging times, and how the narrative of teaching and learning might be reinvigorated and improved.  Presenters will investigate what fair and constructive processes might be used when schools, communities, and other agencies need to decide what books, ideas, and curricula must be taught or discussed in schools.  There will be an “Open topic” category for those who want to enjoy these discussions but present on a different education-related topic—and a category for people who want to talk about the best book (education-related, or not) they have ever read.

The CQiE Conference offers deliberate opportunities for participants to talk, listen, and learn from one another—and to think about how they might change or develop their thinking about teaching and/or teacher education as a consequence of what they learn from others. The conference cost is $285 ($130 for graduate students and $65 for undergraduate students). Registration includes a free book (a $43 value) from the Academy Book Series on Education, part of Myers Education Press. Please see the attachment for more details about submitting a proposal. And we invite you to learn more about the Academy for Educational Studies and about the Academy’s publishing opportunities discussed on our electronic journal pages.
