When: January 1-4, 2021
Where: Dolphin Beach Resort, St. Pete Beach, Florida, USA
The Dolphin Beach Resort has hosted four conferences since 1990 foregrounding autoethnographic and narrative scholarship. In 2021, the Resort will be the host location for a fifth conference, the International Symposium on Autoethnography and Narrative (ISAN).
ISAN seeks to provide scholars and practitioners of all experience levels an opportunity to present their autoethnographic and narrative projects and to participate in dialogue and sociability with scholars across a variety of disciplines. We invite proposals for papers, performances, and panels to be considered for presentation at the 2021 Symposium. Creative and innovative approaches to autoethnography are encouraged.
Proposals might:.
- use autoethnography and/or narrative inquiry to explore social, political, cultural, and personal issues; • address theoretical or methodological aspects of autoethnography; • interrogate or advance autoethnographic and narrative practices.
Proposals must take the form of an extended abstract (500-750 words).
For more information about registration, lodging, and how to submit a proposal, visit www.iaani.org. The deadline to submit a proposal is June 1, 2020.
ISAN is sponsored by the International Association of Autoethnography and Narrative Inquiry (IAANI). IAANI advances the use of autoethnography and narrative inquiry throughout the world through social scientific, humanistic, and aesthetic writing and performing. As a non-profit educational organization, IAANI is exempt from U.S. federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
