Call for proposals: Southeastern Philosophy of Education Society

78th Meeting of the Southeastern Philosophy of Education Society
February 6-7, 2026 Birmingham, AL


We are excited to invite you to participate in-person in the annual meeting of the Southeast Philosophy of Education Society (SEPES) in Birmingham, Alabama! SEPES has a long tradition of providing a friendly forum for dialogue and the exchange of philosophical ideas related to a broad variety of educational topics. We welcome presentations from graduate students, faculty, and practitioners from both within and beyond educational foundations.

While there is no particular theme for the conference, we invite proposals that meaningfully engage philosophy in the consideration of problems of educational relevance. Possible topics might include, but are not limited to:

• the relationship of school to society
• democracy and education
• issues of diversity and commonality in education
• issues surrounding technology in education
• neoliberalism, neoconservatism, and conservative modernization in education
• education in the Anthropocene
• contemporary theory in education
• methodological approaches in educational research
• neo-McCarthyism in education

Proposal Submission: Proposals should be no more than 500 words, excluding references, and should be submitted online using this link: SEPES 2026_Proposal Submission Link

THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING PROPOSALS IS NOVEMBER 1, 2025. Presentation time for papers is approximately 15-20 minutes, and presenters are responsible for bringing all required technology.
