Holle Center Autoethnography Institute

22-27 June 2026 | in-person | University of Alabama

The Holle Center Autoethnography Institute is a week-long, in-person event designed to introduce and deepen participants’ understanding of autoethnography as a qualitative research method. The Institute will bring together graduate students and faculty from various disciplines to explore the theory, practice, ethics, and applications of autoethnography. The event will be hosted by the Holle Center for Communication Arts at The University of Alabama (and in collaboration with the IAANI).

Guided by Dr. Robin Boylorn and Dr. Tony Adams, participants will engage in a five-day curriculum that integrates seminar discussion, writing, peer review, and feedback.

Participants will be encouraged to present their work at the 2027 International Symposium on Autoethnography and Narrative. For those interested in publishing work from the intensive, the symposium leaders will offer suggestions and support for doing so.

Application Deadline: 15 March 2026
