Certificate in Autoethnography program at Bradley University. The program will begin 14 September 2026.
The six-week, online (synchronous+asynchronous), non-credit course is designed for students and scholars located anywhere in the world who want to learn more about doing autoethnographic research. The course will be taught by Dr. Tony Adams, Caterpillar Professor in the Department of Communication at Bradley University. Upon completion of the course, learners will earn a digital certificate with metadata that indicates they have studied the techniques to describe and analyze personal experiences and connect these experiences to cultural, political, and social meanings and understandings.
Since the program launched in 2023, more than 60 students, teachers, therapists, independent scholars, and professors of all ranks have completed the program. Learners have come from various disciplines including counseling, education, healthcare, communication, theology, sociology, human resources, and psychology, and from regions including South Africa, China, Israel, the United States, Canada, Denmark, Greece, and New Zealand.
The next cohort starts 14 September 2026. The synchronous meetings are scheduled for six consecutive Mondays from 3:00-4:00p (CST), also beginning
14 September. The course is limited to 12 learners.
